Amsterdam win Hoofdklasse title

Amsterdam have won the men's Dutch Hoofdklasse for the sixth time in their history ending a run of five straight titles to HC Bloemendaal.

Players to observe a minute's silence ahead of international game

A minute's silence will be observed before Sunday's England vs Scotland U16 hockey match as a mark of respect for England youth international Emma Broad who died unexpectedly in her sleep last weekend.

England's U16 boys and girls sides both play Scotland this bank holiday break, in games at Bellahouston, Glasgow. The girls play at 2.45pm on Sunday and 10am Monday, with the boys' matches immediately after – 4.15pm Sunday and 12noon Monday.

Scottish Hockey appoint Robert Heatly MBE as new CEO

Scottish Hockey has announced the appointment of Robert Heatly MBE as its new chief executive officer, effective from Monday June 13.

Heatly, 52, is a former senior Royal Marines officer (Lieutenant Colonel) with considerable leadership and management experience in a diverse range of matters within the military, civil and diplomacy sectors. He had a distinguished career developing international understanding and maintaining success in a variety of senior level positions, including head of Royal Navy/Royal Marines recruiting for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

A golden goodbye for Jason Lee?

GB men's hockey head coach Jason Lee has told the Daily Express his squad can win Olympic gold at London 2012 and he then plans to step down.

"There will be a large group of retirees after London 2012. And I intend to stop after London. I have been the longest-serving coach and I am still the youngest. After nine years, the sport moves on. If you stay too long, it stops the system,” he said.

Great Britain finish third in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup

The Great Britain's men's hockey team have beaten New Zealand 4-2 in the third-place playoff game at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia.

Australia won the tournament with a 3-2 golden-goal extra-time defeat of Pakistan. Fifth place went to Korea with a 2-1 defeat of India. Hosts Malaysia finished last in Ipoh.

Women's European semis revert to Slough vs Leicester

Vice-president of the European Hockey Federation Marijke Fleuren has said the women's European Club Champions Cup (ECCC) semi finals will revert to the Slough vs Leicester and Den Bosch vs Laren matches that were initially announced..

This was the lineup publicised after the preliminary rounds in Den Bosch at Easter. However the European Hockey Federation subsequently announced a draw had been made pitting each of the two English sides against Dutch semi-final opponents.
