The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has anounced next year's women's Champions Trophy in Argentina will be an eight-team competition.

The top five teams from the 2011 Trophy will qualify, plus the hosts, plus two sides nominated by the FIH, plus the winners of the Champions Challenge (which was Japan).

ENGLAND Under-21 Women secured a second victory over hosts Spain in their three-match series in Valencia.

England and Pakistan draw 4-Nations opener in Amsterdam

Captain fantastic: Barry Middleton celebrates his late equaliser for EnglandCaptain fantastic: Barry Middleton celebrates his late equaliser for EnglandEngland drew their Rabo 4-Nations cup opener with Pakistan in an enjoyable game that lit up with three goals in the last six minutes.

Pakistan took the lead in the Wagener Stadium when the old stager himself Sohail Abbas showed he still has his prolific drag-flick touch. The 34-year-old buried Pakistan's only corner of the match hard to Nick Brothers left in the England goal. That came after eight minutes and was practically all the action the Reading keeper saw of the ball until the dying minutes.

England's equaliser came with six minutes to go when Richard Smith took advantage of a quick free hit (following Abbass's yellow card for an awful swipe at a charging Richard Alexander) to finish with a reverse strike.

A win, or possibly a draw against China on Tuesday should see England into the medal stages of the 2011 Rabo FIH Champions Trophy. But England's record of a loss (to Argentina) and a draw with Korea on Sunday means they are now dependent on las leonas continuing their good form when they play Korea..

So if they get a result, there will be a nervous four-hour wait for the end of the Argentina vs Korea match.

England are a point behind the Koreans with a one-goal worse goal difference. So if Korea get a better or equal result than England on Tuesday, the Asian side go through. That would leave England scrapping for the lower places to avoid relegation to the Champions Challenge next year.
