Australia got back on track at the Rabobank Hockey World League Semi-Final after soundly defeating Spain 5-2 in the second game of round robin action. It was Spain’s first loss in the group and keeps things wide open for top billing in the tightly-knit Group A.

Great Britain, meanwhile, will try to upset world No.1 Australia f and win their first men's hockey Olympic medal since Seoul 1988.

Tournament conversion rates at the start of play on Saturday are: 18% for field goal attempts, 28% for penalty corner attempts.

In the final minute, Spain claimed two penalty corners but umpire John Wright consulted the disengaged umpire Simon Taylor and neither was awarded. GB players surrounded Wright in both cases, but they had already used their video referral.

Spain coach Dani Martin said: "It cannot happen that an international official changes his decision twice just because he is surrounded by opposition players.

The Dutch overcame reigning Olympic champions Germany with an impressive 3-1 win. Germany may need a point against New Zealand on Tuesday (9.15pm) to qualify for the semi-finals, depending on the result of the earlier Korea vs Netherlands game (8.30am).

The injuries to Amat and Frexia leave Spain without two key players who have almost 500 international appearances between them.

Australia were quicker to settle in the pool A match at the Riverbank Arena and earned a penalty corner in the third minute. Christopher Ciriello exchanged passes with Eddie Ockenden at the top of the circle before Miguel Delas blocked his shot off the shin to give Australia a second penalty corner attempt.

Walsh spent a second night in hospital following surgery to have a plate inserted into a fractured jaw. The defender was injured in the second half of the opening match against Japan on Sunday, a match GB won 4-1.

Helen Richardson takes over as captain in Walsh's absence, a role she also filled in the Investec London Cup in June.

Walsh and fellow defender Crista Cullen were out of that tournament with injuries which gave coach Danny Kerry opportunity to experiment with alternative defensive pairings.

He was involved in a collision with Muhammad Irfan towards the end of the first half, received treatment on the sideline and left the field at half-time with his wrist on ice. He returned for periods of the second half with his wrist heavily bandaged, but was very limited in his movement.

GB men head to Santander to face Spain and India

The Great Britain men's hockey side have flown to Spain for their final competitve matches before moving to the London 2012 Olympic Games on July 22.

GB face India on Saturday night (4.30pm UK time) before an encounter against Spain on Monday evening (6pm UK). Spain are GB’s final pool match at the Olympics, so both sides will be looking to gain any pre-Games psychological advantage.
