Here's a quick look at today's games:

Having debuted eight new players only a month ago, four new players will get their first taste of international hockey during the first series of matches in Canberra with Elizabeth Duguid (NT), Jacklyn McRae (NSW), Sally O’Toole (QLD) and Hollie Webster (NSW) all picked to make their debuts.

Australia A (women) failed to produce their best efforts last night, but still managed to come away with a 1-0 win over France’s national side at the Perth Hockey Stadium in the first game of their 4 test series.

After losing three matches to the Australian junior side last week, France were always expected to come out strong against the Australia A side who were made up of the likes of Kate Hollywood, Bianca Greenshields, Stacia Joseph and Alison Bruce.

The Hockeyroos have proven they are on the right track to rebuilding ahead of the London Olympics, defeating world champions Argentina this morning in the final of the 4 Nations tournament in Mendoza, Argentina.
In dramatic circumstances, the win comes after the Hockeyroos scored with only one minute remaining before full time to level the match and force it to extra time.<--break->From there the Hockeyroos, from Jodie Schulz who also scored the goal to level the match, scored again within the first minute of extra time to seal the victory.

England's world cup dream still alive in Poznan

Won one lost one, that was the story on day two of England's indoor world cup campaign. The loss came 3-2 against a clever and skilful Russian side. The win was also 3-2, against a combative USA.

The performance against the US was disjointed, but go-to man James Tindall saved the day with a half-way line steal and half-court dribble into the net. That came after the US equalised at 2-2 with a penalty despite Richard Mantell's protests the ball had hit his stick. I probably don't need t tell you about that – you probably heard the shouting back in Reading.

Outdoor Kookaburras make indoor hockey World Cup squad

The Australian team for the upcoming indoor World Cup reflects national outdoor coach Ric Charlesworth's encouragement of his players to take up the indoor game in order to transfer the unique skills back into the traditional form of hockey.
Three members of the Kookaburras, Matthew Swann, Tim Deavin and Kieran Govers have been selected as part of the Australian team to compete at the 2011 indoor hockey World Cup which will be played in Poznan, Poland from February 8-13.
