Finals

Well what a glorious day for hockey, the sun is out and the stands are packed with supporters. Reading are to take on the other losing semi finalists Oranje Zwart. It proved to be an amazing game of hockey. The standard of play on show was fantastic. A very open game with both sides looking to score goals. Which was nice to see as sometimes the 3/4 play off games can amount to nothing. Oranje opened the scoring through Bob de Voogd with a field goal but Stephen Dick replied to level the scores. Reading played very well, with Richard Mantell as usual making those trademark disguise passes to his forwards. Also, down the right hand side Jonty Clarke worked the space very well to get to the baseline and create numerous chances. It was a gloriously open affair with Reading taking a 2-1 lead with a Richard Mantell corner, OZ levelled through Sander Baart leaving a delicately poised end to the game. It was a thrilling end with a penalty stroke decision overturned through video referral after the OZ kicking back played the ball off the back line the wrong side of his stick. Then the move of the match with Mantell finding D'Souza wide on the right with a 70m pass. He fired the ball into the circle where Redaing hit the post and fittingly, captain Rhys Joyce slammed the rebound into the roof of the net to take bronze. Reading thoroughly deserved to win the match - well done guys! Now we wait for the final between host club HGC and Campo.

Final Score 3-2 Reading take Bronze.
