Netherlands 3 New Zealand 1
Hockey's top sister act, New Zealand's Samantha and Charlotte Harrison came close to leading their side to a surprise win over the Olympic champions the Netherlands on the first day of the women's Champions Trophy in Nottingham..
After an even first half, the Kiwis took a shock lead 12 minutes into the second period when Clarissa Eshuis buried the third in a series of penalty corners. This came after a dangerous attack led by the sisters forced the retreating Dutch to foul.
The goal woke up a lethargic Dutch side who equalised with a well-worked right side attack finished by Eva de Goede.
Maartje Paumen put a drag flick just below the crossbar to end any prospect of a NZ win, with four minutes to go. A reverse stick finish from a narrow angle in the final minute by Kim Lammers left the final score a flattering 3-1 to Holland.
