Germany name star-studded indoor lineup
Indoor hockey world champions Germany have named a powerful men's preliminary squad for the indoor World Cup 2011 in February.
Christopher Zeller, Matthias Witthaus, Moritz Fürste and world young player of the Year 2010 Tobias Hauke are among the outstanding outdoor talents in the initial 16-man squad. Fürste and Hauke were all named in the International Hockey Federation (FIH) All Stars team of 2010, and are joined by another member of that squad in top defender Maximillian Müller.
The men's and women's indoor World Cup's will be played in the Polish city of Poznan from February 8-13 where Germany will be aiming to win their third successive title – following triumphs at Leipzig 2003 and Vienna 2007.
Also in the German squad are Tim Jessulat, who was the goalkeeper at the Hero Honda FIH World Cup in Delhi, and Nicolas Jacobi, goalkeeper of Uhlenhorster Hockey Club Hamburg, the reigning champions of the Euro Hockey League. U21 world champions of 2009 Pilt Arnold and Martin Zwicker will also show their indoor hockey skills at the event in Poznan.
The preliminary squad of 16 will be reduced to 12 ahead of the tournament.
