Beeston's chances of staying in Europe hinged on a video appeal with eight seconds on the clock, after a long wait, Andy Mair in the video box ruled for a PC. But with the clock run down, Beeston mistrapped at the top of the circle and their European semi-final chance had slipped away.

The equaliser came from An Andrew Monte drag flick corner three minutes later. After that it was all corners: 2-1 HGC (Seve van Ass, 33m), 2-2 (Monte, 46m), 3-2 HGC (Timmo Kranstauber, 52m), 4-2 (Connor Grimes, 6m0) and Alastair Wilson, 64m.
English hopes for Euro Hockey League success now lie with Reading who play KHC Dragons of Belgium at 11am UK time. Monday's other game is the all-Orange battle: Orange-Zwart vs hosts HC Bloemendaal at 1.30pm UK. The other game on Sunday was a rather dull affair between Club de Campo and Atletic Terrassa, both of Spain. de Campo eventually winning on penalties.
