HGC 2 Glenanne 0
Mannheimer 3 Ateltic Terassa 4 (on penalties. 1-1 after extra time)
A scorching Good Friday in Bloemendaal set up a quarter-final game for Beeston against Dutch giants HGC on Sunday. The English champions knocked over the Russians 2-0 with goals from Ben Arnold and Sam Ward, both tidy-ups after penalty corners.
Ireland's two representatives both fell with Pembroke Wanderers wilting under an onslaught from Club de Campo, who will now play Atletic Terassa on Sunday.
Terassa went through to play Spanish rivals Club de Campo on Sunday with an EHL-style penalty shootout - eight seconds to score from the 25. See www.ehlhockey.tv for how penalty shootouts will be decided in future World-level events.
See www.pushhockey.co.uk for video interviews with Ronan Gormley of Club de Campo, Adam Dixon of Beeston and Rob Short of HGC.
Fans Fair:: Top turnout from GlenanneBest fans of the day award goes to the rowdy and funny Glenanne supporters from Ireland – top effort guys. And their side did them proud too, pushing HGC hard - see here for HGC skipper Rob Short's thoughts on that game.
Tomorrow's big game for English fans is Reading vs East Grinstead at 8.30AM UK time. Catch it at www.ehlhockey.tv or on British Eurosport 2.
After that there more hockey to gorge on with the latest chapter in the EHL's top rivalry HC Bloemendaal vs UHC (1.30pm UK). KHC Dragons play the star-studded Rott-Weiss Koln at 4pm UK to decide who plays the winner of East Grinstead vs Reading, on Monday. The meat in the sandwich is Orange-Zwart vs RC Polo at 11am.
