England's men's hockey team missed out on the Commonwealth Games bronze medal after they were beaten on penalties by New Zealand on the final day in Delhi.
The game finished 3-3 after extra time with Simon Mantell's hat trick for England cancelling out goals from Dean Couzins, Nick Haig and Hayden Shaw.
Despite chances for both sides in extra time the match headed into a shoot out.

England claim Indian penalties were a drag

The Independent reports that England are not happy with two of the Indian penalty strokes in the decisive barrage in Monday's semi-final match – claiming the strokes were 'dragged'.
"Two of their penalty goals shouldn't have been given because they dragged the ball," the England's Richard Alexander lamented at pitch-side. "You can't do that. I can only assume the rules have changed.

A stunning women's Commonwealth Games hockey final ended when Nicole Arrold roofed a penalty stroke in the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi.
The decisive penalty shootout had started depeperately for the Blacksticks who failed to score from their first two strokes. There was a slight twitch from Australia as skipper Madonna Blyth shot wide, but Arrold stayed cooler than an ice-vest to deliver gold to the defending champions.

Twigg takes England to a podium finish

A 13th minute strke from Clifton striker Georgie Twigg was enough to take England to a podium finish in the New Delhi Commonwealth Games.
South Africa failed to score in the bronze medal game despite a number of penalty corner chances.
Twigg, who turned in a pass fron Leicester's Crista Cullen, told the Telegraph: "I am absolutely thrilled.

A brave second-half comeback from 3-1 down and a flawless series of penalty strokes have propelled India into a dream home Commonwealth Games men's hockey final.
England and India went in level at half time after an Ashley Jackson PC strike after the buzzer silenced the home crowd. Jackson's goal cancelled out a corner goal finished by Saravanjit Singh in the 20th minute.

Hockeyroos shatter England's golden dreams

Australia won the first women's hockey Commonwealth Games semi-final with an assured second-half performance against England.
The Hockeyroos took the lead early in the second half when Madonna Blyth deflected in a corner. This followed a first period when England dominated the game but failed to convert possession into goals.
Australia began the second half a team transformed, emerging into the sunshine of the Dhyan Chand Stadium ready to turn the screws on England. After the goal, the Hockeyroos defended superbly and attacked well at times.
