Germany won the Four Nations invitational at Nottingham with a penalty corner goal in the dying seconds of the first period of golden-goal extra time.
The game had started well for hosts Great Britain as they cruised to a 2-0 half time lead with a cheeky finish from Barry Middleton after burgling Florian Fuchs at the top of the circle and a James Tindall PC.

Germany hit back with second-half goals from Linus Butt and Martin Zwicker. GB had a chance to win in extra time when Adam Dixon put a rebound over the bar after a James Tindall shot had hit keeper Max Weinhold. Weinhold also brilliantly saved an Ashley Jackson PC in extra time.

The 1000th goal in Champions Trophy history secured the Netherlands a place in the gold medal match in Nottingham.
But the goal wasn't without controversy, with the Germans launching a video appeal well after the ball had been taken back to the centre spot for the restart. The German claim of a stick tackle was rejected and Kim Lammers 50th minute strike stood. Germany had a few chances to equalise, notably through a missed corner chance from Tina Bachmann.

GB's goalscorers were Simon Mantell (who is starting to look sharp after his injuries), Ashley Jackson (2) and the pick of the players on view James Tindall with two.
Marcus Child scored his second international goal for the Kiwis.
