Great Britain to face Germany in Champions Trophy hockey semi-finals

Great Britain produced a dominat display in Rosario, Argentina to defeat Korea 4-1 and book a place to play Germany in the 2012 Champions Trophy semi-finals.
Great Britain took the lead on 17 minutes when Georgie Twigg tipped in a Kate Walsh corner at the left post.
Two minutes later, Reading's Alex Danson calmly finished off a superb move from EuroCanterbury’s Natalie Seymour and Reading’s Helen Richardson, flicking the ball over the goalkeeper to take it to 2-0. And she wasn’t finished there; moments later a long ball across the circle came to Danson who, without so much as a glance up, struck a fantastic reverse stick shot across the goalkeeper into the far corner.
Towards the end of the first half Korea were awarded a penalty stroke following a foul from Beth Storry, and Seon Ok Lee stepped up to make 3-1. Despite some late pressure from Korea, GB went in at half time with a two-goal lead.
On the 51st minute Great Britain got their first penalty corner of the half and it was cleverly taken by Walsh who looked for her Reading team mate Helen Richardson on the back line who re-directed the ball back towards goal to make it 4-1.
Korea did continue to put pressure on Great Britain, but GB defended well and Beth Storry showed why she is the number one keeper with a world class save to keep the three-goal cushion. The game finished 4-1.
Speaking afterwards, Great Britain coach Danny Kerry said, “In the first half we were supreme, cutting through the defence effortlessly. Korea pushed players high in the second half and we showed exceptional character to cope with the pressure.”
Captain Kate Walsh added, “We killed the game in the first half by stamping our authority early on, and we can now look forward to our semi-final against Germany.”
Great Britain’s semi-final match against Germany takes place on Saturday February 4 at 8.30pm with coverage on the BBC Red Button.
GB and Korea went into their quarter final knowing thee winner woudl play Germany who defeated Japan 3-2 earlier on Thursday.
The other semi-final will be between the world's number one and two sides as the Netherlands play Argentina. The hosts defeated China 3-2 in their quarter final, while the Netherlands put away New Zealand 3-0.
