England still in the Champions Trophy running when hockey restarts on Tuesday
A win, or possibly a draw against China on Tuesday should see England into the medal stages of the 2011 Rabo FIH Champions Trophy. But England's record of a loss (to Argentina) and a draw with Korea on Sunday means they are now dependent on las leonas continuing their good form when they play Korea..
England are a point behind the Koreans with a one-goal worse goal difference. So if Korea get a better or equal result than England on Tuesday, the Asian side go through. That would leave England scrapping for the lower places to avoid relegation to the Champions Challenge next year.
In this eight-team format, the top two teams from each pool go on to form a medal pool and then play games against the two qualifying teams the from the other pool (with their result against the other qualifier carried forward).
Hosts the Netherlands are undefeated inthe other pool, pool B with New Zealand second, ahead of Germany on goal difference. The Blacksticks play the high-flying hosts in Tuesday's final game (5pm).
England play China at 11am on Tuesday, Australia vs Germany is at 1pm and Argentina vs Korea is at 3pm. (all time Amsterdam time, subtract one hour for UK).
The parallel men's Four Nations starts at the Wagener Stadium, Amsterdam, on Tuesday, following the Champions Trophy games. England play Germany at 9pm (Amsterdam time). The tournament opener is Netherlands vs Pakistan at 7.30pm.
