Players to observe a minute's silence ahead of international game

A minute's silence will be observed before Sunday's England vs Scotland U16 hockey match as a mark of respect for England youth international Emma Broad who died unexpectedly in her sleep last weekend.

England's U16 boys and girls sides both play Scotland this bank holiday break, in games at Bellahouston, Glasgow. The girls play at 2.45pm on Sunday and 10am Monday, with the boys' matches immediately after – 4.15pm Sunday and 12noon Monday.

Ireland defeat Scotland in U18s

Ireland have won both matches in a women's under-18 series against Scotland.

Scotland lost the second game of the series 6-1, at Forthbank, Stirling on Sunday. Ireland took Saturday's opener 4-1.

Scotland head coach Colin Clarke described the second loss as a harsh lesson on counter-attacking direct hockey.  A combination of lapses in defence and some smart finishing allowed the Irish to go into the interval four goals in front.
