Hurst collect county crown in National Schools qualifier

Hurst 1stXI - Sussex cup winners 2012Hurst 1stXI - Sussex cup winners 2012Hurstpierpoint College have progressed to the regional stage of the under 18 Girls’ National Schools Hockey Competition. Hosting the event, Hurst collected the winners’ shield for the first time in over 15 years when a nail biting finale against Eastbourne College went to sudden death penalty flicks.  

Ten sides from across Sussex began the day with their sights set firmly on a top three finish and a secure passage to the regionals. In section A of the draw, Hurst opened their account with a 2-0 win over Burgess Hill. Sixth former Lauren Hope scored either side of half time, first skilfully deflecting a powerful cross beyond the keeper and second, showing composure to drive a low shot into the corner of the goal.
