BDO WORLD CUP - We're out in Germany! And getting touch line action for YOU ...

Editor chats to Korean Team Manager Seong Jong Kim and Goal Keeper Dong Sik Ko
SATURDAY:
The hockey park was sold out today for the first time - that's over 12,000 hockey spectators! The hot game of the day was Germany Vs Netherlands. Germany have beaten their neighbours 72 times but this time it was a thrilling 2:2 draw. See the highlights - press WATCH HOCKEY.
SUNDAY:
"KOREA WILL TOP THE GROUP" So confided England midfielder Richard Alexander to us yesterday. And from what we've seen so far we have to agree.
MONDAY:
ONE OF OUR FAVOURITE MATCHES SO FAR:
India vs Korea

We won't give away the result but recommend this game as one of the mostly hardly fought so far in the Tournament. 101km/h Penalty Corner, controversial penalty flick decisions, injuries - it had it all. Just click the watch hockey link to the left and see it all for free!
The Crying Game:
Pakistan 0 Argentina 1 - Emotions run high as a Penalty Flick decides this hard fought match.
KEEN but too LEEN:
England 3 Netherlands 4 - One of the best England performances in recent years, still not quite enough.

England Coach Jason Lee: "Today was a bit of fun for us. We're hopeful to be in the fifth to eigth play-off but we've a lot of work to do."
A team insider told us: "We're gutted but it was a hard two days with Germany and Netherlands back-to-back. The umpires' decisions went against us at crucial moments and Taekema's power on his PCs was unstoppable (even though he played poorly) for most of the game."

The crowd did England proud. James Tindall told us afterwards: "They were fantastic. They do drive you - the 12th man pushes you!"
TUESDAY:
Australia 7 New Zealand 1 - Semi-Finals now assured for the Ozzies. Coach still not happy: "I don't think we played to our full potential," Barry Dancer.
Huddle up and sing.
Could this be the secret of the Ozzies success? Since 2004, every time they have won a game they get into a huddle and sing a song specially written for them by a famous country & Wsinger. The song 'The Mighty Kookaburras' - has seeemed to inspire them to be the world no.1's for some time now, will it see them win at the World Cup though?
Germany 5 S.Africa 0
- A full house raised the home side and produced some great goals. After Australia's display earlier the German's were desperate to bag a load of goals to improve their own goal difference.
Wednesday:
Germany 0 Korea 0 - Dutch go out due to draw
We ask - was it an orchestrated draw? ... German Coach answers: "I am unable to speak Korean."
Well...was it a fix? We assume not, but what we can say was that it was either an excellent display of discipline and sticking to a game plan OR it was very, very boring. The sad thing is that as a result of a 0-0 draw a team that has played good, attacking and entertaining hockey is now out of the Cup, namely Holland. The booing of the crowd said it all!
So the finals are settled Korea, Germany, Spain and Australia.
England 3 S.Africa 1 - Punching above our weight, 5-8 @ 6.30
A great performance by England showed our potential to move into the top eight in the world. Clinical finishing from our short corners and sticking to a well defined game plan meant Jason Lee's strategy won the day.
Friday:
England 4 New Zealand 3
In a dramatic statement of intent England signal their desire to take fifth place by fighting the Kiwis and coming off best. Simon Mantell encouraged his team to fight back from a 2-0 scoreline by firing a PC in at the end of the first half.
The Netherlands team appeared psychologically battered by missing out on the semis and went down 2-3 to Pakistan.
The match of the day earned it's title when Spain beat Germany by a golden goal.
Saturday:
Fifth place WON! England 1 Pakistan 0
It is the highest placing for England since the 1990 World Cup in Lahore ... and a major jump from being ranked 11th!
Just as in the game yesterday England kept us on the edge of our seats to the very end. They showed their gritty desire to win when extra time loomed and were rewarded for their perseverance when Martin Jones scored the winner with only three minutes remaining!
PUSH are the 1st to congratulate Teun de Nooijer - 2006 Player of the Year!
...and if he won't drink it - we will!
The
WorldHockey Men’s Player of the Year award was presented today and was given to Dutch superstar De Nooijer. His victory gives him a third title in four years! The only other man to have won the player of the year award more than once is de Nooijer’s former team mate Stephan Veen (1998, 2000). The award raised his spirits slightly after his team free fall down the World Cup rankings.
